Tattoo Infections and What to Look For

Tattoo infections are most commonly represented by a rash or red rough skin in or around the tattoo area. A mild red rash can simply be the results of tattoo needle irritation which usually disappears in a few days. If the rash or irritated skin feels warmer than normal then consider seeking advice from your doctor immediately.

  1. Areas of raised tissue appearing harder than normal
  2. Liquid coming from any part of the tattoo
  3. Blistering
  4. Body shivering
  5. Feeling hot then cold repeatedly (fever)
  6. Any swelling around the tattooed area and any red lesions

The Safest Option to Help Avoid Further Major Infection

Go and talk to your doctor as soon as you suspect something is not right. One consideration could be you may be having an allergic reaction to the tattoo ink (though this is not common). Very rare severe allergic reactions should seek emergency treatment immediately.

The secret to getting a tattoo without any infection issues is, choose a good recognised, reliable tattoo artist with good reviews.

Check your chosen tattoo artists cleaning processes and procedures. The rest is up to you and how you take care of your new tattoo after leaving the tattoo studio.
